What is LIBS?

LIBS stands for Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy. Using a high-energy laser pulse to excite the sample surface, wavelengths representing different elements are collected through a detector built into the spectrometer.

Leaving only a tiny burn mark on the sample, the Vulcan Smart spectrometer has proven to be the safest, fastest non-destructive testing device on the market today. 

The device is manufactured by Hitachi Group - Germany.

• Ability to recognize more than 1500 alloy grades according to AISI, GB, DIN, JIS standards and users can add more grades to the device.
• The device is easy to operate and very safe. The device does not generate radiation. The device has a detection mode when there is no sample.
• Built-in calibration program for many different alloy backgrounds: Low alloy steels, Nickel (Ni), Stainless steels, Tool steels
• Additional applications (Option): Tin (Sn), Titanium (Ti), Zinc (Zn), Cobalt (Co), Copper (Cu), Lead (Pb)
• Capable of analyzing very small sized materials (< 0.5mm)

• Export data via USB to create reports on Excel or word
• The device can export data in csv, pdf format or save and manage data directly to Loud Server via Extope connect program. Users can retrieve analysis reports (including data, images, spectrum graphs, locations, etc.) from computers with internet connection without any software installed.
